A League of Their Own

Hey everyone,

I have done this blogging before but always seem to slack off but this time is different. A couple months ago I was inspired..As you may know im a huge sports fan, more so a women's sports fan. So when I heard that several members of the 2008 USA Women's Softball team decided to take a break from the national team to focus on their league, The National Professional Fastpitch league or NPF, I was shocked. Then one by one each player gave us an explanation to why they did it...they wanted to benifit the game of softball in the long run, wanted to give the college players a place to go when they were done playing Division 1 Softball. As a softball player I have the outmost respect for Jessica Mendoza, Cat Osterman, Caitlin Lowe, Lauren Lappin, Natasha Watley, Vicky Galindo, Monica Abbott and Andrea Duran and I know that had to be one of the toughest decisions they have had to make in their softball careers. Since their decision I have been doing what I can to get the NPF out there. Thanks to social media sites like Twitter and Facebook doing that is a lot easier. I have been brought into a softball community thats more like a family, the players are so gracious and don't take your fandom for granted.

Now the NPF is made up of 4 teams; the Akron Racers, Chicago Bandits, Tennesse Diamonds and the USSSA Pride, which is based out of Florida. If you have a twitter page follow them,
@USSSAPride
@NPFBandits
@NPFDiamonds
@AkronRacers

If you get a chance you must go out support these women and not just the ones I mentioned above. There are great players like Caitlin Lever, Megan Gibson, Sam Ricketts, Loryn Johnson, Jami Lobpries, Danielle Lawrie, Megan Willis and so many more to name. These women are amazing athletes and more importantly amazing women. They play game at the highest level and you can't help but support them. They make you proud to be a softball fan.

They have done so much for us I think it's time for us to start doing something for them. They deserve to be successful and respected around the sports world. So I ask not what the NPF can do for you, but what can you do for the NPF :)

IT'S TIME TO START A REVOLUTION FOLKS...GIVE THE NPF A CHANCE!!
